Posted: 12/05/03 - 11:45 Post subject: I am in college why?
Well, I know why. I have many reasons. Today however, having one week of the semester under my belt, I've only read a couple chapters of sociology, a couple of 20th century world (which I have to reread for both classes since I don't think any of it sunk in--don't read while kids are home I think is the key here), and have completed a mere 2 chapter (tests) of Math 101 (with Dad's help) which is NOT NOT NOT an introductory math course at all like I thought it would be. Or maybe it is, but dang it's hard. Polyfrickennomials... kill me now. If this is intro, Algebra & Stats is going to kill me. I should go casket shopping...
I'm just having a hard time getting back into the groove. I had a few weeks off and it's so hard just sitting down and doing what I need to do (essays, here we come) and math is giving me a huge headache. I feel so stupid. How can I be in college if I'm an idiot?
Help.Me. Say something inspiring, if you would. Thanks.
it doesn't help that I got my first non-A grade, in Lit of all courses... I can read and write and that was a serious blow to my self-confidence...

Brie:
You can do it!
It's got to be hard going to school and being a full time mom as well. You're intelligent, witty and motivated to get your degree. You've done a great job so far and you'll do just fine now.
Things are hectic this time of year and it's hard to keep all things going 100%. Take it in stride and try not to stress.
I know you can do it!

Math sucks ass, Brie....don't beat yourself up over it. You've got a full plate there and you've done really well considering you have a lot more to balance than the average 20 year old college student. It's tough going back to school as an adult. Makes me appreciate way more the old college days......
You hang in there, woman!! Someday you'll look back on all of this and know it was worth it.

You will make it Brie!
I got through an entire year of calculus during my freshman year though I hated almost every part of it.. Just put in whatever effort you have and you will do just fine..

Brie, if I can do it, you can. This working mom of two goes to law school at night and has a final tonight which consists of 3 questions in four hours. I spent the weekend elsewhere, studying. I spent last night at Goette Une's first Irish Dance recital. Juggle, juggle.
I'm a better juggler than most of the 26 year olds I'm in school with and it's to my great advantage. I also have a better perspective b/c I know that if my kids are safe and healthy, nothing else matters too much.
Best of luck on your semester.
