Do not make for restful "Nature sounds" thankyew very much.
I had to buy a new alarm clock. This thing has more buttons than the space shuttle.
It also has a CD player which came with a "restful nature sounds" CD.
I figure, great! I'll be sleeping to the delicate sound of crickets chirping...one of the tracks sounds like hurricane force winds are bearing down on my house. Needless to say, that altered my restful mood.
How often do you buy alarm clocks? Do you upgrade or try to go for what you had?
*I had to find one with battery back up. Our electricity is too sporadic to be relied on.

I was using a $6 Kmart cheapo that had an incredibly loud and annoying alarm. GF picked up a clock radio on sale for me that also has more buttons than the space shuttle. I've got the alarm to work - another annoying beep. I have yet to figure out how to get the damn thing to wake me up with the radio.

I had to sacrifice two goats AND a chicken, but I woke to the dulcet tones of Shania belting out an oldie.
Was it worth it?

I upgrade only when the buttons don't work or the alarm goes off at random intervals unrelated to the time you set the alarm for.
My clock radio at work used to be my alarm clock, but if you set the alarm for 8 am you know that you'll be up before 5.

Personally, I'd rather wake up with Shania next to me..... but that's just me.

I'm still using the same radio alarm clock that I've had since I was about 10.

I lost my alarm clock in one of my moves and had to purchase a new one when I moved to Indiana in 1997.
DH had a really old one, you couldn't read the buttons anymore and the alarm on light wasn't always on, so I made him get a new one. He got a new one with more buttons than the space shuttle and required two engineers to set the time/alarm. He ended up actually throwing it away ($50 alarm clock) and buying a $6 model from Wal-Mart that works just perfect.

We've got a regular clock radio, which we have come on (radio, not alarm) every morning to what may be the stupidest husband and wife combo on radio.
The bestest thing about it, though, it's got the sleep device that shuts it off at night. No getting up at 2 AM to turn the darn thing off.

I got a clock radio when I was around 15. When I moved into the dorms at 18, I bought a battery operated simple alarm clock because there was no plug near my nightstand/window sill. I'm in no rush to buy another alarm clock because it's extremely rare that I use either of those. Normally I use my cell phone alarm.
