Who goes hunting? Keith goes deer hunting every year. He always shoots a deer but we don't eat deer meat. He gives it to a friend of ours. I don't mind getting a few day to myself either.

Neither hunt nor fish. Enjoy the outdoors though.

I don't hunt, but if Keith has some extra venison he'd like to share, I can PM you my address.

I live for hunting, fishing, hiking, anything in the outdoors. Spent last weekend bowhunting for deer. Saw plenty of them but no shots presented. Not a problem, I enjoy my time outdoors no matter what. End up getting a deer every year and I'll take a deer tenderloin over beef any day. Always have friends wanting some venison also so since I'm permitted 3 deer this year I'll probably take two so I can keep everyone happy. Oldest son got his first deer last year but his hunting time is limited this year with school and sports. I will most likely be traipsing about the woods of southeast Ohio again this weekend.

I live to hunt. I use half of my vacation for the year just for hunting. I hunt upland birds mostly although last year I started hunting waterfowl. Come fall I can't wait to get out in the field and hunt ruffed grouse or pheasants. Just being out walking the fields makes me a happy person. Watching Jena work a bird is also an amazing site. Last saturday she worked a pheasant for 15-20 minutes before she flushed that bird. I was grinning ear to ear the whole time.

I was hoping you would post a hunting report. Do you ever make venison sausage? I love venison sausage. While I haven't been hunting in a few years I used to be an avid turkey hunter.

Venison sausage is excellent as is trail baloney and we make deer jerky also on occasion. I generally just keep the tenderloins for myself and my son and have the rest ground. The ground meat is substituted for any dish that requires ground beef. We rarely buy hamburger anymore.

Alan, we've now got a fall turkey season that is two weeks for shotgun and two or three months for bow. If the chance presents itself I'm going to try for a turkey with my bow. I'm good enough to take squirrels with the bow on occasion so I think a turkey is a possibility. The deer rut (breeding season) is beginning to heat up around this neck of the woods and the deer are really becoming foolish. The younger bucks are driving the does nuts right now chasing them around. The mature bucks that do the majority of the breeding have been busy establishing who's boss amongst the various herds. The next two weeks will be deer bedlam as bucks won't be feeding or sleeping much and the deer will be running about even during daylight hours. I love it.

Batjac, I've determined that anybody who gets a grouse is just plain lucky. I don't hunt 'em much but I've done nothing but miss during the times I have hunted them. I generally have to swallow my heart back down into my chest before even pulling up on them due to their habit of flushing at the most wonderful times....
