A good friend of mine told me any day that you wake up, it's a good day! Cool

I figured with so much negativity in the news nowadays, I suppose you guys can look through.

By those counts, it is a good day.

But man, some days are rough and you just don't know how you'll get through one more sometimes. Neutral

I've read Keith Harrell's book "Attitude is Everything" several times. It's about a former college basketball all-star, who was struggling with the disappointment of not making the NBA. He lists different examples of people of how their lives changed with the use of positive thinking. It's certainly highly recommended reading material.

Exhausting!

Was up by 4:30am.
Off to work with the kids by 6:30am.
Drove the commute.
Taught all day.
Was on my feet all day.
Had report cards finished to send home (all hand written-2 pages each) x 28
Had Math Night at my school and was the 4th grade teacher in charge of the games. Had to organize and come up with the games...set up.
Left work.
Drove the commute.
Picked up the kids.
Got dinner on the road.
Went back to work, driving the commute again.
Ran the Math Night for my grade level.
Drove home, driving the commute for the last time.
Stopped at Walgreens (my kids are coming down with colds)
Bathed the kids.
Now just put them to bed.
Still doing laundry.
Still have to pack lunches.
Still have to set out clothes for the kids tomorrow.
Still have to get things set by the door to leave.
And get to bed around midnight.
All for my alarm to go off at 4:30am all over again.

This is just plain hard sometimes.
I wonder if this is the hardest part when the kids are all so young and need me to do everything for them. They're not old enough to stay home alone. They have to be tended to. I just hope and pray it gets easier one day. Otherwise, this is going to age me.

wow nolefan, I give you all the credit in the world.

I'm not sure I could ever settle down, get married and have kids, while working 40+hours/week! I like the single lifestyle, gives me plenty of time to do the things I want, without having to worry about an everyday commitment.

41/2 hours each night, I fear you do need to get more sleep!

Thanks.

It's hard to do this alone as well. This singledom is all new to me (after 13 years) and it's not easy doing it without help. Today the kids' father was traveling, so he couldn't help (and he does on nights like this with my work...thankfully). Anyway, every single day is jammed packed. I do make time for myself to run at the gym and the kids' activities. It's just exhausting.

Is this what my life is going to equate to??? I want to be a good mom. I want to be a good and effective teacher for my students. I want to be in good shape. I want to keep a clean house. I want to be organized so things go smoothly. I lose a lot of sleep. I just want to know if I'll always be going on very few hours of sleep.

I am thankful though. I got a good job...have good kids...and it's working.

PLUS I'll have the summers off!

People always joke about teacher's and the time they get off. I'm here to tell you that I put in double, sometime triple time during the week/weekends. It's not a job that you just put down if you care. Anyway, I'll be ready for summer to have some time to rest. This year has truly been crazy and my stay at home life was turned upsidedown.

Thanks for your sympathy.

Oh and...

I still have not dealt with the button nazi's who cut the buttons off of my shirt at the dry cleaners yet!!! Mad

Getting my shirts dry cleaned is somewhat a luxury to me and time saver. I am still angry that they did that to my shirt on it's cuffs. I depend on those shirts to be ready for me to just put on...no ironing...no fuss. UGH! I guess I'll get to it on Friday. Tomorrow it the kids' basketball practice. It'll have to wait.

BTW. Coming here to post is now my downtime. Mr. Green

That's the upside of having a teaching job is having the summers off. I do work with kids quite a bit, but I'm not sure I want to settle down yet. I'm amazed a lot of people use their downtime to post on a running forum, but I'll warn you stay away from the Clubhouse over at Coolrunning, it's as stressful as a second job Twisted Evil (I like that little guy).

Well make sure you read the good news articles before you go to bed. Wink

Yeah, a lot of great people over there, but it was too stressful for me so I took off. No one noticed/cared. So, I figure I made the right choice.

I like it here because it is a way to talk to grownups that share similar interests. And they're people who don't judge me--vocally anyway. Those that don't like me don't respond to my posts--and that's cool. But those that do respond are almost always kind and compassionate. Something the real world around me is in short supply of.

I'm really getting to like here a lot as well, I just hope I don't become addicted to this place! Wink

There are a lot of great people over at coolrunning! People that I've known that have posted over there for years. I don't hold any regrets about leaving.....or should I say getting banned.

Not bad at all. Had a meeting most of the morning, then dropped off some job apps. Stopped by the library (this time they had NONE of the 6 books I was looking for). It was a gorgeous day, and I spent much of the afternoon sitting outside reading. Read much of the afternoon and evening, just finishing a very interesting book. (Though I don't normally write anything, a review may follow in a few days.)

Actually, I do remember greyhound7. What ever became of her? I remember something rather unhappy, but can't quite remember.
