I want to strengthen my arm muscles and shape up my body. Thats why Ive started doing various exercises. But for some reason even after trying for a couple of months I still cant do pushups. How many pushups can a woman do? Even when I give my best I cant achieve more than 5 pushups at a time, and that is pretty disappointing. What can I do?

In my opinion pushups are the most difficult exercise both for man and for woman. If it is of any consolation, Ive been exercising for over a year now, and Ive never succeeded in doing more than 10 pushups. Maybe you should try doing those women pushups which are considered to be less difficult than men pushups. There are explanations on how to pose your body when you do them. I know that you dont push up your body only by using your arm muscles. Another thing is to go to a gym and try working out from time to time. I think that for a recreational way of exercising, theres no need for a woman to do more than 20 pushups at a time.

I can do about 20 pushups in a row. I think to achieve this I started working with exercise machines that used the same muscles. Once I moved from the apartments that had the machines, I figured the only way to keep those muscles would be to do pushups. I can still do pushups. I'm trying to lose weight though. I'm a female that weighs about 186. The funny part is, I look like I'd only weigh 160 or less. I guess it's the muscle mass and because I'm big boned.
