With all this talk of relocation and new jobs (and the guy in the office next to me is moving into his 3rd different house in 6 years), I was wondering how many houses you've owned/mortgaged.

I'm still in my first house that I bought back in 1995 and I don't have any plans to move for at least 6 more years.

One. A home we built in 1992 before we had kids. We both said when we built it this would be the first and last...and so far so good.

We've lived in 9 houses in 13 years, but have only owned one.

It was in Alaska-I absolutely loved that house--maybe because it was my first.

technically 2

the first was what I liked to call a home built on an I-plan, it had a long narrow footprint, much like the letter I. It was also "mobile" so technically we didn't have a mortgage. It was more like a vehicle payment we rolled that thing behind my In-Laws house. It was good to get out of there and into this house. this is our first "official" mortgage, and we have refinanced!

I've owned one, and only one: my Philadelphia mansion, aka Chez Partay, aka The House of Ghettio. I moved every year in and out of dormrooms in college, and then The Paramedic and I had two apartments. I said the move to the house would be our last until we really did move into a mansion. We're hoping for a shore house, but that would be an additional mortgage not in place of ours.

Just the one I'm living in now.....I am in the process of getting it the way I really want it, but I still have the itch to move away from PA in two years when I finish the master's to do the doctorate somewheres else. Not sure where though.....

I'm living in my first one. Unless I win the lottery, I don't plan on moving either.
