How many races are you planning on entering between now and the end of June?

I am planning on running 5 races between March 1 and mid-June and I was wondering if this is excessive.

I only think it is excessive if it is not a mix of races. If it is 5 marathons then I think you would be nuts

2003 Broad street run. It is very hard for me to schedule runs due to Abby and me having every other weekend off. It happened the BSR was on a weekend I am off which makes it the 10th race for me the most ever of any race

I will do a race on 04th July and maybe to PDR (phila distance run) in Sept but that is it.

As long as they aren't all half marathon on greater, I think you'd be ok.

5 5K's would be pretty easy.

My 5 races would all be either 10ks or 15ks, so I think I will be OK physically.

My wife thinks that running 5 races is excessive, so I was trolling for opinions about on this. I don't think it is excessive, especially because there are no race around here between June and September (I don't much care for the 5ks).

Opinions?

The only reason she thinks it's excessive is because you have to spend money to enter each one. At least that's what my wife would think.

I don't think it is excessive. Especially since you don't have much in June-September. I'm with you 5k's are not much fun for me anymore. My goal is at least 1 race per month of the year. You are not much above that.

Edited to add: In HS we raced atleast once a week, a lot of the times twice a week. Granted I was 14 but still...

Well, if you're not racing, you're training, right? So, time spent either way. I'm with Randy, it may be the money spent on the races....which really isn't that much. Is there a lot of travel to get to your races? I know that's when I get groans from my husband. He'll say: let's go to Madison for the weekend. I'll say: let's see if there's a race in Madison. LOL! Check with her to make sure there wasn't something she wanted to do some of those weekends.

I did 13 my first year back into running.....and I had 12 on the schedule last year, got benched so I did only 4......but like Joe said, it depends on the distance. I mixed mine up a lot, just play it by ear and don't register for too many too far ahead so you don't end up bailing and losing the $.
