Interesting. I refer to you as "the computer genius".

I always refer to you as "my friends". Whenever Happy2tri and I talk about the happenings around here my hubby will say "who did that" and we'd say in unison "our friend _____".

I guess that I am still so new to this that I am still "in the closet" with the forum. No one really knows that I post in here or make comments to people I have never met. I know my husband thinks it's strange that I lurk in forums, but doesn't know that I make posts.
I am willing to bet that I will call all of you my "Running Friends" as I get to know you and visa versa.
I have referred this place to my friend who is a Triathlete. I hope she will join in!
You are a great group!!! I'm glad I joined!

I say "my friend".
My son will stop by the computer on the way to the kitchen sometimes and ask "Who's _____?"
And I'll say (for instance) that's Coachmarkos. He's a coach and a teacher. Or that's RTPD, he's a Police officer like you're uncle. Or that's Shelfie....no one's really sure what he does....

I also use the "running friends" thing for people who would .
My family is all pretty internet friendly so they don't think anything of it.
At work, if someone overhears us discussing something and asks who, omega lambda and I will say "Oh, this person we know".

i usually say the "people that i talk to on the running forum". then i get some sort of wierd look that means the individual is thinking "funny, i never pictured beth running... and she looks a forum for running?" and then i notice that they are looking at me funny and either hurry and change the topic or tell them to stop making fun of me...
the bf makes fun of me anyway, when im on at home, he usually asks me how "runner steve" is doing...
honestly, i usually avoid talking about it becuase im tired of all the strange looks i get and noone even thinks my stories about yall are funny.

Some variation of "Those assholes on the Internet"
Them: "Hey Dave, where did you find out about this great speed workout?"
Me: "Some icehole on the Internet."
Them: "Dave, what do you think about SUVs and current gas prices?"
Me: "Well, according to the assholes on the Internet..."
Them: "You seem to feel very strongly against walking breaks and headphones."
Me: "Yes. As do most of the assholes on the Internet, I might add."
JUST KIDDING.
I only say that about SOME of you.
I really only use the A-word to describe my cow-orkers... "those assholes from the Jay-Oh-Bee". And I'm not joking now.
For the rest, I refer to Riff Raffers and Cool Runners as "runners from the Internet". I really do. Unless its Brutal. Then I say icehole.

I say "so-and-so from my running forum" using the real name if I know it, forum name if I do not. I don't get funny looks because those who know me know I'm active on a couple forums (but only ONE running, seldom get on CR these days) and have been for quite some years.

My friends who do know ie, the ones who might be with me when I actually meet my first riff raffer(s?) in person were totally cool about it when I explained in detail, down to the manties, what this place is about. Some of my family knows and don't think anything of it but if my mother realized the extent of how much I post I believe she'd have a stroke.
My niece and nephew know about this place, I'll check in when I'm at my parents' and they like the smilies and avatars. They have no clue what I'm doing, they just tell me to make the banana dance
