Posted: 08/28/03 - 11:56 Post subject: How do you refer to Riff Raffers
in your daily conversations with others?
My son and BC know who I mean when I say "Shelf" or "PH" or "Genie" or "Cappy" or a whole list of others--or when I start the conversation, "Today on the forum".
When I mention you guys to my parents or to others, it becomes a little more sticky.
For example when I told my parents (while BC was deployed) that I was having lunch with someone I met over the internet, they were more than a little concerned. (It was lunch with Gogirlgo)
I tried to explain to my parents who Joe was and how I knew he was in the running for the million/billion. All I could say was "A running friend".
How do you explain to others?

The Paramedic was going to get his own login here, but then decided it was so not necessary with my constant ramblings.
Fortunately my best friend is also a member.
All others get "running friend" because they, too, think the internet friend thing is weird. Which isn't a stretch, as I've met more than a few people who post here.
Except for TriBob. He avoids me like the plague. I'm beginning to think he doesn't actually exist, but is another RRer in disguise who merely wants to torment me.

Except me. I'm "that weird, obnoxious, loud chick married to that guy I really like", I bet.

Dammit, I asked you not to out me in public!
Depends with me too on who I'm talking to. Mostly it's my running club or the running group I travel with, when I'm talking about going to a race. My roomie knows everyone by whichever name I call them by and he too often recognizes people by their stories. He asks about Abby sometimes because I always read Joe's update posts to him and show the pics. Someday we'll actually get him to a race to meet the locals.

Delta and my kidlet know who and what I mean, and Delta thinks he's got Shelfie's number because of the manties thing, but to everyone else, you're "running club" folks.

My running friends
I thought about using "my internet running friends", but I am sure "The voices in my head" would be better accepted
Execpt:
Mattie's Wench - My Babe!
Genie - Our new best friend!
