I'm Catholic. I don't read the Bible.


Jesus fasted and many Christians believe in fasting--I believe that that is similar in intent to Lent.

Biblical fasting is always accompanied by intense times of prayer and devotion. I wonder if that's the case with modern Lent or is it more about going 'through the motions'? dunno

well of course lent is a time of prayer and reflection. I have a book of lenten mediatations that my parish sent out, for this purpose.

There's not much validation that all the 'wine' references in the Bible were referring to fermented grape juice. I've read plenty of arguments that 'fresh wine' was no different than buying Welch's.
