We have been looking for a while and we cannot find what we want. We found this tiny shack and are thinking that we can just add to it. We want the land, and it is about a 5 minute walk from the beaches. A big plus.

If you know what you want, and you know the area you want to be has what you want, it's fun.

If you're pressured to find a place, for whatever reason, it's a hassle. Especially if you can't give the thorough attention to potential home in advance.

Wow. $270k for a 780 sq ft house. Big diff in housing prices between our two locales.

To answer your question, I kind enjoy looking if I'm not in a hurry. Like right now... I look now and then knowing I can't afford to buy anything for at least a year so there is no pressure.

The wood box they are calling a house isn't what costs. The land is in a prime area.

The city is mostly historic and they are in the process of re-doing the city.

The "downtown" area is full of shops and bars and they have all kinds of street fests and partys with differnet themes. Garlic fest, Street fest, night fest... You get the idea. This little house is a stones throw from "downtown"

Exactly what I was gonna say.

If the location is perfect, then go for the remodel/add-on. That's what we did. It really is all about location. You can tweak and retool the structure, but if you don't like the distances to your fav things, then fergit about it.

Yeah, our price here would be more like $400 K!

It's like kids, you know. Once you have one, two aren't any more trouble, then you have the third and feel like you should have the fourth so the third isn't so lonely--then the fifth arrives as a "surprise" just when you think you've got them all potty trained and ready for obedience school.

It happens. More often than you think.

I'm ready for a third puppy. Too bad the USAF and hubster disagree.

I would have 100 13-pound babies before I'd go through that again any time soon... like in the next 30 years.

I agree MW!!

I, for one, am pro-pita bread, though I must admit to being partial to the pocketless pita I get at Greek restaurants over the more traditional pocketed pita I get at most stores or Middle Eastern joints.

Oh, and Sheldon, I like the house, its quaint. And with that much land in that location, go for it!!!!!

Yeah, looks good. You can add on or whatever. Sounds like an excellent location.
