It says it has adult and child mode; but, not athlete mode. I have tried them in the store and there is a huge difference in readings. You have to wonder why they need different settings. Is athletic fat that much different from couch potato fat?

Those types of scales aren't very accurate. I'll stick with my skinfold calipers, thank you.

we have a bodyfat scale that does activity levels and all that jazz. i don't really know how accurate it is, my % varies inbetween 9 & 11% depending on the day, i haven't really check with other scales.
it's just kind've nice to have something to measure against maybe?

Since I'm too lazy to link, do a search for Lange Skinfold Calipers, you'll find a bunch of sites. They do cost about $200.
A huge caution though. In order for BF% taken from skinfold calipers to be accurate, the person taking them needs to be considered an "expert". And the general consensus for that is doing skinfolds correctly at least 1000 times.
So come on down to FL.
