what does overnight involve? Do you pick people up or just check people in (and actually, how does that part even work?) A report please when you finish, and good for you for doing it.

Nothing much to report. I only got 3-hr of sleep, so I was worthless on Sunday and couldn't get a nap in.
The overnight responsibilites are really just "being there" in case a guest needs some kind of assistance, keeping track of everyone, and being 'an ear'.
As for the 'pick em up' question, this might seem weird, but in northern Minnesota and probably all rural areas, even the homeless have cars. If you don't have transportation, you really can't survive at all outside of urban areas, so there's no need to pick people up, they drive themselves here. In fact, that's by far the most common scenario, that peeps without a home just live in their car.
About the only interesting story was one guy that took an hour to decide if he should stay or go back to his tent for the night. It was a clear cool nice night, so he decided to tent in the end. dunno

Well and I was thinking, I don't know I've never been there but I would imagine Minnesota nights this time of year to be actually really nice so there wouldn't be any need to pick people up off the streets or anything. Very interesting about the car thing...and good for you again.
