I'd chime in a with a "bag it" for this year. I have a family member who is up and down healthwise. It took a few years, but she enjoys travelling so much more when she can coincide it with physically being ready. If she's having a tough patch, it's simply time to stay home.
Family understands and making arrangements for an upcoming spring or summer visit shouldn't be trumped just because it's not a "holiday".

I'd have to agree with the majority here. I think staying home will be better for her health and make her more comfortable. There are plenty more holidays to come!
