When we lived in Indy, I had the BEST mail carrier, Becky. When I had both my surgeries, she brought the mail to the apt instead of using our mailbox. I thought that was cool, so she got something at Christmas. I tipped the UPS guy that year too as I was always getting something delivered by Brown, and well, he was really cute. My tips involved gift certs and cards though, not cash. |
Did you tip your surgeon?

Partly because she never gets it wrong.
Partly because I've seen that she deals with a bunch of crap from a lot of customers.
And partly because she's cute as all get out.
KIDDING! |
Our Starbucks peeps always get a tip from us, unless I'm paying in plastic and I have no paper or coin on me. But that's only once in a blue moon, and I make up for it the next time I'm there.
Yet another reason I don't need to go to Starbucks. <sigh>

I tried to that one time, but he told me that he'd already factored it into my bill.

Seriously, back to one of my original questions that has yet to be answered:
How do you tip the trash guys if you never see them?

Leave the money in a garbage bag near your trash can so it doesn't get dirty.

Call your trash collection agency, ask them how one goes about tipping their workers. I'm sure they'll know the best way.

Tip the trash guys 5 bucks a man
mail lady, probably 10 bucks.
I really like our trash guys, they are always real nice to the kids and go out of their way to say hi to them and let them throw trash in once in a while.
Mail lady, only because she slugs it out day in day out

Call me a Bah Humbug... but I find it a bit ridiculous that I'm suppose to tip people that I never see... for doing their job. These people are not waiter/waitresses/bartenders who derive the vast majority of their overall income from tips. It's one thing if you deal with someone on a personal level on a reoccuring basis. But I think it's a bit much, if it ain't that case.

I was just going to ask how much I was supposed to tip our building engineer, but if that's going to be your attitude, then to you!

Maybe everytime I pick up my phone at work, I should ask the other party where they want to mail my Holiday tip to?

I don't tip my trash men, for the reason, that the GA folks do. They just throw the cans, or if we have more than 3 bags of trash they complain about it. Plus our trash collection is outsourced its not done by municipal workers.
