I am the one that has carried on the cookie baking tradion from my grandmother. Each year for Christmas each grandchild (five of us) got our own little tin of cookies under the tree. I give cookies to everyone!
This is what's on my cookie to-do list this year...
hoerchen... think ground almonds, o.m.g. sooo good! (from my grandmother's hand written recipe <smile>)
sugar cookies
cream cheese cut outs
after dinner mint pinwheels
nutrolls (walnut and apricot)
elfin shortbread
chocolate walnut puffs
fudge
pink lemonade cookies
chocolate-caramel bites
and, a new recipe that I haven't yet selected (maybe some sort of brownie)
What's baking at your house this season?

Whatever the local bakery's making. I usually bake a lot, but not this year. Don't have the energy, the desire, or the time.
You should 1) laminate that handwritten recipe, and 2) send me samples. Now.

Probably won't do any baking until post-Christmas. I'm really busy up until then and then...10 days of nothing. Maybe I'll get out the apron and go to work on some trans-fatty goodness.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Ricotta cheese cookies. I tried them for the first time ever at a little bakery in Alaska.
Do you frost yours to match the season?

Yeah, um, I'm going to need a recipe for said ricotta cheese cookies...
I haven't decided exactly what I'm making yet but the baking begins this week. Standards include: press butter cookies, sugar cookies with the colored sugar on top, meringue mint cookies, gingerbread shapes and/or molases crinkles. This year I'm thinking of venturing into pecan tarts and 'cookie cups' as seen in Southern Living.

The kids and I will do our normal decorated sugar cookies on the weekends between now and New Year's. That's all we ever do, and with 3 kids, that's enough.

Not sure yet here either.....trial run of oatmeal scotchies came out good, so that might be a repeater. Sugar cookie cutouts, three kinds of fudge (regular, rocky road and peanut butter), raspberry linzers, poky's ricotta cookies if the recipe ends up in my PM box , pizzelles, some kind of shortbread, and molasses crinkles are all I know for sure. And some bar cookie although I can't decide which yet.
I LOVE BAKING!!

I love love love making cookies. I also try to add a new one in each year. Today I'm going to make some icebox cookie dough so I have it all ready to go in the freezer. The icebox cookies are cooking light recipes so I do alot of them. This is what I'll be making this year:
Vanilla/chocolate striped icebox
Chocolate/peanutbutter mix icebox
Lemon cornmeal icebox
Orange Sable cookies
Chewy orange/almond cookies
Macaroons
Hazelnut biscotti
Toffee (mmmmmmmmmmmmmm)
New addition:Chewy Coconut pinwheels with chocolate
Lemon rounds (Biggest PIA to make. They have lemon curd between two cookies made with ground pecans. I wasn't going to do them this year but a certain Happy friend of mine said "not even a little batch for me?" So this batch is for you my friend!)

I really can't bake very well.
When I bake I have to make sure that I am not feeling rushed or distracted in any way. I have to force myself to take my time and follow every step to the letter.

I've not ever attempted baking and have decided to continue with the tradition of eating all the baked goods I can get my paws on in every house I visit.

brie... This is the first year that two of my three will make their "own" batches, but they all looove decorating them with the colored sugar and icing. We make a decorating day and invite all the neighborhood kids over to decorate then they take a couple dozen each home. I know that some of the mom's appreciate: 1. having a day to themselves and 2. not feeling forced to bake if they're too busy
