RR's questions about photography got me wondering...

If you had more time, what hobbies would you pick up?

I think I'd have a blast with photography. I think street luge would be fun too.

It's less a matter of time for me than a matter of patience.

I would love to play a musical instrument but after about ten minutes I want to throw it through a window.

I think I am going to start painting. It will probably be a good exercise in patience.

languages. Acquiring vast amounts of knowledge with no purpose other than just to learn.

Street luge would be a blast, too.

I would like to become an expert marksman, but neither the time or money.

Auto restoration ...of course getting the extra time would also have to come hand in hand with extra money.

That's what Mr Aire and I want to do together after our son leaves for college in a few years. We lay awake at night and discuss which cars we want to restore and why.

We have a list going...

Well I'm already an avid waterfowler. Me and my chocolate lab, Gunner, put in around 25-35 hunts a year (from October to March).

So I would say I already have a hobby I'm passionate about.

But if I had enough time (and money) to add a 2nd it would be as a food critic. I love to try new restaurants and have been collecting wine for the last 8-9 years.

read more. As in, not text books.

get involved in an orchestra again.

become fluent in a language.

learn to play golf just to see what all the hype's about.

re-learn to play tennis any 'skill' I may have acquired in that area seems to have evaporated

learn to cook really well.

I can't think of new hobbies I would like to take up right now, but I would love to have the time to do justice to all of the hobbies I currently have:

cooking
playing guitar
photography
cycling
travel (lots of travel!)
reading
riff raffing

One of the best ways is watching tv--especially shows that you've seen before and somewhat know what's going on or shows that have the words printed at the bottom. I've somewhat taught myself that way. My son learned to lip read in kindergarten--he was sick with ear infections, I knew he was having trouble but the docs wouldn't pay attention. Sure enough, his teacher told me he was lip reading. Shocked

I'm also teaching our dogs sign language and they respond much better than verbal commands. They really read my facial language and look at my eyes to read what it is I want.
