At the gym it's those with high expectations who put forth little effort. They want my constant help and assistance then figure out they are actually gonna have to come in and work for the goal they have set. It lasts usually a week or less. I hate it and it frustrates me that I put out the effort to help/assist them and they give up. I can spot a high maintenance person at the gym within 2 min. of being here.

If living on a desert island with enough food and shelter is horrifying to them.

People who constantly ask if, and need assurance that, they are not "high maintenance".

There was a woman at Panera educating a few men (who were more than eager to just watch this woman talk) on what High Maintenance was and that it was a good thing.
I don't know what kind of crack she was smokin', but obviously it impairs her thought pattern. High maintenance is a bad thing in my book.
High maintenance is the type of person (male or female) cannot do anything by themselves, always needs reassurance, spends entirely too much time getting ready and primping, and puts priority on the wrong things in life (having a bigger house/car or better anything than someone else).

But replace "cannot" with "can but won't". Hella big difference.

You are right...
You better keep this as a quote. Admitting someone else is right doesn't happen very often.

High maintenance to me is a person who complains constantly. No matter what.
For example: I have a cow-orker who orders food. Gets EXACTLY what they ordered, but they will ALWAYS find a flaw. Always. It gets old.
People with constant negative outlooks are high maintenance.
