traffic. Just because you have a strobe light and a tin badge does not give you power to boss me around and give me an attitude.
Because you did not see the handicapped placard on my truck, does not give you the excuse to have an attitude with me.
And lecturing me about the handicapped law in PA does you no good, especially when I was in complete compliance with it. I was going to badge you and explain to you how I am completely aware of the law but just let you have your power trip over getting on a guy with a handicapped kid.

We took the kids last night to a Christmas light show and we have handicapped parking for Abby. The security guard kind of huffed away when he saw Abby's leg braces and that I did indeed have my placard in place, in compliance with the law.

He was even more upset when my brother in law who was driving the other van in front of us, did not have handicapped tags or a placard (it was not his car). When my brother in law was asked what he was doing in the handicapped section, my brother in law got out, hopped on his one artifical leg while, his other pant leg dangled in the breeze (he is a double amputee) getting his wheel chair out of the back of the van.

We had a good laugh over that one, the guard thought we were pulling a fast one and he got nothing.

He walked away with his tin badge and strobe light still flashing.

I guess every PD has its Barney Fife. At least he didn't decide to escalate things.

he was not even PD, he was fire police volunteering which was the real kicker.
It was better that he walked away and I choose not to escelate it, I almost went to his boss but decided to drop it. It was not worth, it I figured he was volunteering in the cold weather, he does not need grief from me

And, on the other hand, because he was there and doing his job, the handicap spot was open for YOU to use legally.

Maybe he was having an extremely hard time keeping law breakers out of the spots and when he mistakenly did not see your card, he tried to be a little forceful. Your the law, you know that after the tenth time telling people the law and the right thing to do it gets old.

You did the right thing and let him make an arse of himself. Big thumbs up for keeping your cool. I can safetly say I wouldn't have.

We have these guys around town.. They show up at fires, road blocks etc, direct you to another road and generally act like the one you ran into. You ask them for simple info like how far is the blockage ? Can I get to "X" street ? All you get is a blank stare...

Ours are in that general age category also.

Speaking of "power trips": - I have enough experience with authority to recognize power trips when I see them. I just let the "tripper" have their fun - it will mean absolutely nothing in five years anyway.

He're one: Wife is at FT Dix NJ, decided to get the DOD sticker for post access. Goes to Military Police station, starts getting hard time from the Civilian Guard about the fact she is from NY, should she be going to Ft Drum or West Point etc etc. After explaining to the little martinet either of those options is non viable she was grudginly given a sticker. I told her next time you run into that to simply ask to be shown the pertinent reg that restricts issue of the stickers to people within a certain geographical area.

Perhaps this guy had had a hard night, since people tend to overreact to the little, most insignificant things at the holiday season. Perhaps he was sick of people yelling at him, telling him how to do his job. Cut the guy a break, and simply wish him Happy Holidays.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt and let it drop, he though jumped on me first as soon as I got out of the truck. He could have been more diplomatic, I may have been a little smart with him, but he is the one who had the last word.
