Drives me crazy when people confuse rhythm and beat, as in "the rapper sampled the beat from an older song." Sampling the beat would be monotonous, much like the ticking of a clock. The rhythm would be much more interesting.

I always hate it when I am tossing my salad along with the rhythm of a song, and I tell Tracy I am adding beats to it. She always thinks I mean the vegetable beets! Frustrating.
