Helping out, anyone done it?

I am looking into volunteering as a coach for the Special Olympics and I am just curious if any of you have helped out with a SO event before. I did in high school and I had a blast. These kids were so excited to participate. More here if you are interested.

Not SO, but I've volunteered for cancer kids' events. It was fun and yes, the kids are so excited to be there. More importantly, it was great for the kids to see other kids going through the same thing, thriving and surviving. It is amazing how these kids bond.

I volunteered in high school/college and then hadn't for along time. I decided to get back into it last year and volunteered for the regional games that are held here in the spring and really enjoyed it.

I was in charge of turning the music on and off for the gymnasts, which was surprisingly stressful. We also had to do some timing, though luckily they didn't care if we were too exact (everyone went over anyway). I had fears of being caught up in some dreadful scoring scandal. Smile

They just sent the notice out again looking for volunteers. I need to give them a call. You should do it Brewer. It is a great learning experience.
