I created my bike club (as in bicycle) through yahoo. You can register the domain and they provide the software to keep it updated. Easy with plenty of templates for various website themes.

kind of business, I guess. He's currently coaching a few people for Ironman and I think he wants a website about ironman training.

Copy, edit and save as. It is really easy to make a web page. Find one you like, then change the wording to match what you need and then do a save as. Then you just need to find a hosting service.
