The choices for movies
Cold Mountain
or
Mystic River
after a nice lunch at a new restaraunt around here.
She wants to see either movie. Both movies are showing at the same time at the theater we are going to.
So your assignment is to help me decide.
I will go with the majority vote.

I honestly can't choose. Either would be good, I'm sure.

It's a battle of crap v. crap. I reluctantly chose Mystic River, opting for Sean Penn over the "new American south", aka Jude Law and Nicole Kidman . That's gotta be some of the worst casting ever. I think I'd sooner see Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights or Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.

I would go to either but if I had to choose I'd choose Mystic River. But it's because I love Sean Penn.

Mystic River is supposed to the better movie (i've only seen Cold Mountain). But, if you want to come out of the movie feeling happy and good about life...don't see Mystic River.

I too have only seen Cold Mountain. However, Lauren loved it. I think it's somewhat of a chick flick (okay, alotuva chick flick) but it wasn't terrible. I want to see Mystic River, but probably won't for a long time.

Mystic River. Clint Eastwood has turned out to be a wonderful director (Bird, for example, which was a sleeper directed/produced about the greatest jazz saxaphonist EVAH, Charlie Parker).
Cold Mountain just seems too sappy.

I thought Cold Mountain was terribly overrated. I haven't seen Mystic River, but loved the book.
Enjoy your date!

i'd go with Mystic River, altho i'm sure it's not exactly a "feel good" movie.
Cold Mountain is a great story, but i've read the costumes and makeup and Nicole Kidman's outright hollywood beauty make it not so believable for the time period in which it had supposedly taken place. too "fluffy".
the Forum? whaaaa????

I have not seen Cold Mountain, but I read Mystic River and saw the movie. That would definitely be my choice. A lot of good acting, and a good story too.
Either way, Enjoy!

I won't pay for it...that is no longer a result of that equation.
