today was terrible. Its my first day back after 6 days out with strep throat, and im still on my antibiotic.
During the warm up, my legs felt sluggish and dead, like weighted rubber stumps and very tired. Once the workout (12x 200m) started, i could not force my legs to move any faster than somewhere just above a job.... it was like my mind was saying "go" and my legs were saying "screw you" its a hard feeling to describe. It got so bad somewhere around number 5 that i almost fell down when my legs threatened to just give out.
then on the 200 break in between i was yawning alot and had trouble keeping my eyes open.....

What could possible be causing this? remnants of the infection? interaction with the antibiotics? dehydration? i have no idea, but it was most decidedly not a pleasent expierience. any insight is much appreciated.

PS afterward my legs ached and then the back of my heel, like the tendon started to get sore

i thought of how to describe what my legs felt like... you know when you wake up in the morning sometimes and your muscles feel like theyre still asleep untill you stretch them out? thats what it was like...

a strep infection is serious stuff. i would say 6 days is not enough time to regain strength after that infection. i'm not even sure you're over it yet, i had it for a 10 day period once and i thought i was gonna die! it is horrible and rushing your instant comeback isn't gonna help things.

all the things you say are probably true as in: you are still fighting the strep, the anti-biotic can make you feel bad and you are definitely dehydrated and fatigued if you've had any sort of fever for the last week; fever will drain you almost more than the infection. you've been working overtime to fight this thing so you are still tired.

i'd give it more time. you KNOW you're not 100% yet, running sprints just isn't gonna happen if that's the case. i'd wait another week before i'd expect to feel strong enough to being training again.

give it more time....i hope you're feeling much better soon.

Also 6 days off is a long time. How long have you been running? Give it time, you'll come back just fine.
