Posted: 06/06/04 - 21:20 Post subject: Hello Friends!
I have not had a moment to stop by in a while, and oh how I miss you all!
To recap:
Bought our first house near my family, in a great neighborhood.
Commute is 150 miles per day
Love life, hate commute.
I started running again on Monday (labor Day)
Severly sprained my ankle later that same day building deck
I have been hobbling around for the past week (my ankle and foot is currently a pretty mix of purple, yellow and black.).
But now for the GOOD NEWS!
I got an offer for a new job...8 miles from my house!!!! for almost 15% more dough, and 50% less stress! The other bonus is there is company subsidized daycare right next door, so I will be 100 feet away from my babies at all times.
Even though it is subsidized, the daycare is still going to cost me at least the difference in salary, and this year will be quite lean (I might even take on a second job until the kiddies are in school). But life is good.
I hope to recover in time to resume training for NYCM 2004. I really miss running, now more than ever with my ankle injury

Great to see ya, stranger!!!! We've missed you too! Excellent news on the new job, sounds like even with the daycare $$ it is going to be better for you all in the long run. That's good to hear.....I guess the kiddies are loving being out of the city, too?
HUGE mondo bummer on the ankle....make sure you rest up and don't try to come back too soon!! How many times have some of us done that and it cost us more time than it was worth....
Welcome home, buddy....come around a little more often, wontcha? Shelfie stopped peeing on the server a while ago. He's growing into quite the responsible young lad these days. You'd be proud...

was the commute by car or by public transportation, because there has got to be significant savings there either way for you. I also imagine your car insurance is cheaper too. So maybe it is a wash

I'd say you hit the Jackpot on the new job that's close to home! even if daycare eats up the salary diff, you'll be gaining time. and that's much more important when it comes to kids!

True Dat! 150 mile commute each day would get old fast.
