On my training runs i can run as much as i like without paying much attension to hydration ect. But i have done three road races so far and a couple of hours after each of them i got headaches and felt slightly sickly and had to go to bed for the rest of the day!

Does anyone have any idea what causes these headaches, all three times i made effort to drink and eat before and afterwards. Im not sure why it only happens for the races, it could be to do with the fact that i push a little harder and i dont noramlly run during the day when it is hot.

I am a heavy sweater! Iv read it could be to do with salt or magneisum? Any idea? Neutral I really enjoy running, but i dont want to have to put up with this each time! Sad

Are you drinking sportsdrinks after the races or water? Electrolyte levels need to be replaced too, so find a sportsdrink you like.

Are you travelling far to the races? Carbon monoxide? Seriously, try getting to the race 1-hr early so your body can "leech" it out and then don't jump in the car right away afterwards, stick around the race, take it easy, go to the awards ceremony and applaud the age-groupers.

My first suspect is dehydration but you seem to have taken care of things there .
Indigestion..bile... This can cause headaches ... Try skipping/less food maybe...
Does you body heat up a lot??. That has caused me headaches a few times while running in the sun..

You stated you are a heavy sweater, you are losing a lot of salt while you sweat. Also if you are not replacing what you are losing, you are dehydrating, hence the headaches
