Do like me, I'm getting a Honda Rebel this year! Red, baby, red. They're a great size for a woman to handle on a daily basis and they run great and run forever!

I've ridden motorcycles and I don't have a problem with them. But here, in SoCal, and on our freeways, it's a dangerous thing to ride one on the streets. There are so few motorcycles and bicycles on the road, that most drivers aren't expecting them or thinking about them. I really believe that if more people rode, drivers would be more cautious regarding them. It's a viscious circle - if no one is willing to ride, we'll never get used to sharing the road with them.
It's funny because on my way in to work today I was thinking about this. There was a couple riding bikes, big ones, that sounded like Harleys, and I realized that the only reason I knew they were there was because their bikes "rumbled". Maybe that's the ticket. A big, rumbling bike is hard to miss.

No, but I loved not having to fill-up while the kids were on spring break. I'm not looking forward to how much it will cost to drive to IN next month, but I have to go for school, and it's probably still cheaper than flying.

Yeppo... I parked the 8-cyl and got myself a 4-cyl in protest of high gas prices. And prolly next week now, I'll start the o' bicycle commute routine

I'm only 5 miles from work. I might try to bike in this summer. The whole logistics of showering and bringing in work clothes is something I'll have to figure out.

I can't speak for the hillyness [sp?] of your route, but 5 miles isn't much to get sweaty about, especially in the mornings when it's cooler.

If I could afford a 3rd car I would park my truck and get a little gas mizer but no money!!!!
We will be using the mini-van for everything that doesn't require my truck since it does get better gas mileage.
I paid 1.68 at Sam's Club the other day for gas.

No.
I lost my job in March and I thought my driving would significantly decrease, but no. My mileage has gone up.
On March 31, I decided to get rid of my Buick Century (28 mpg on a good week) and buy a Jeep...(about 18 mpg). I've driven 1700 miles in 22 days. $1.78-$1.95/gallon to fill a 19 gallon tank.
I'm learning that money ISN'T a renewable resource
The tradeoff: I look cooler and younger driving a Jeep

That is probably about how much I drive a week also. mrs. Boiler drives a lot less.
God i wish I lived closer to work so I could bike (the roads around me are not safe enough for me to bike on!!!! otherwise I would think about it!)
