Texas Independence Day, that is. On March 2, 1836, Texas declared its independence from Mexico.
On March 1, 1978, I was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Part of me has always wished I had been born a day later so I could share a birthday with my home state.

Yes, but fortunately the Mexican influence remained and some of the best food in the world is found in Tejas.

No kidding on the Mexican food. One of my favorite places is Joe T. Garcia's in Fort Worth. Every year, they sponsor a 5K called Run to Joe's complete with samples after the race. This year's race in on March 25th. Any one in DFW should consider running it. If you do, look me up and say hi.
