Do you use cursive when you write?

Do you print?

Do you use a unique combination?

I'll rant about it later. I'm just curious..

The reason I ask is that I spent a grueling hour trying to help Ian write 15 spelling words in cursive, and I know they are following a different style than I was taught.

Wouldn't we be serving these kids better to teach them to print neatly, sign their name, and TYPE efficiently?

Print. Since junior high school.

My (full) signature was best described as "a ball of yarn after a cat's done playing with it."

Print. It's legible, and much faster for me.

I have a condition known as dysgraphia. It is a bit like dyslexia. I cannot make my hands draw what my brain sees or tells them to do. It started with literally not being able to stay inside the lines when coloring.

I spent two years with a penmanship tutor when they attempted to teach it to me in school. It was frustrating for everyone involved to watch me make zero progress. When I sign my name, if I really, really concentrate, it still looks like a child's work. I certainly cannot draw, paint, etc..

My normal signature looks like a scrawl. But you know what?...

No one has ever had a problem cashing a check I ever signed Very Happy

So I print when I have to. That still looks pretty bad, but usually you can read it.

I print like a 3rd grader. I write cursive as if I have Parkinson's. (no offense to anyne, I just don't have steady hands at all)

So I try my hardest to avoid writing anything. I'd rather find a way to type.

Always cursive unless I'm writing something for the kids to read. I have nice penmanship.

Hubby uses a combination of both, drives me nuts.

Print all the time. the cursive looks terrible. I had to practice and practice so I could teach it when I did my student teaching, but it did me no good.

Print 95% of the time. Many years of drafting at an actual drafting board refined it enough to be pretty legible. My cursive is terribe and I often can't read it. My first F on a report card was in writing....

I used to have beautiful penmanship. Years of computer use, however, have reduced it to something truly awful. I use a combo of cursive & print. I can't count the number of times I write something down and don't know what it says. Seriously, my writing is worse than my truckdriver mouth.

Fine cursive handwriting in elementary school but switched to printing for increase in speed in junior high. Never looked back....
