Okay, so a general costume party I can handle. But, when they start narrowing things down, and you're forced to go buy stuff...sheesh!
Theme is: medieval
Okay, obvious: king, jester, knight...
I did find a Larry King mask on ebay for cheap - thought that would teach 'em. My wife thought I could dress in all black and be The Plague. Not bad...

the Executioner. big blade easy to make, Leather pants (we know where ya can some cheap) no shirt needed. black hood with eyes and mouth cut out. easy

Black habit with hood, and a large Scythe for death no scythe for Monk.
PS Wife has to dress up as servant girl and lead two or three sheep.
