I think Hallmark makes up some holidays just to keep the cards and gifts rolling. On their website, they list 23 Other holidays that you should celebrate (with them of course).
I don't mind the spirit of Valentines Day; but, I need a break sometime.
Dec: Christmas
Jan: pay for Christmas
Feb: Valentines Day
Mar: Mrs B-day
Apr: Anniversary
May: Mother's Day
Everyday: SAHM
Of course the gifts are always heavily lopsided in her favor or you never hear the end of it.
OK, rant over, bad week at work, I'm a little better now.

I totally agree that V day is a Hallmark holiday. Too bad the Mrs. doesn't agree with me. And since I don't come home to Hallmark every day, I have to give in and get her something special.

My husband and I have instituted a card moratorium in our marriage. No anniv cards and definitely no VD cards.
Cards are $3+ a pop. He says great stuff to me all the time, I don't need a card to tell me what someone else has to say.
All the special stuff he has told me is tucked away in my heart--where nobody can take it away.
I get tired of Hallmark stuffing new holidays down our throats!
Rant over.

I enjoy buying Mr Poky gifts for the holidays. I know I am harder
to shop for than he is so he probably gets frustrated when it comes
to buying for me.

You may want to choose a different abbreviation.

You're both right, I don't want to celebrate THAT either.
And they prolly even have a card for that...
My Dearest love,
Roses Are Red,
Violets Are Blue

my personal fave is secretary's day. what hell is this????
one year, all the secretaries (lead by my husband's secretary) in his department converged on his office to "complain" about the difference in bouquets they all received. Hers is prettier, hers has more flowers, she got a mug and i didn't...
blah, blah, blah, blah freeeekin' blah.
then, they have the nerve to tell him next year just give them gift certificates -- all in the same amount---to avoid any controversies.
needless to say, she didn't work there long after that. he has a new name for secretary's day.

What annoys me about Valentines Day is that all the advertising is geared to the mins, and buying the ladies the knock her off her feet gift, and none is geared to the wimmins buying the mins cool stuff.
Valentines Day, definitely a holiday for the wimmins.
