Are there any that specifically cater to halves or do I just have to look at all the marathons in my time frame and see if they have a half attached? I am looking for one in October, but I don't want to do Staten Island and not the week of Chicago, which is October 10.

Reconsider Staten Island - it's a fantastic half. My favorite, second only to Queens. Especially if you love hills. The view of the Verrazano alone is worth the admission price ($17 in advance for non-NYRRC members) and it's only 1.5 hours from Philly. Free parking, too.

I may do either the half or the full that day. Depends on how the summer training goes.
The half is fairly flat. There are some gentle hills. Crowd support is ok. You get to go through some nice neighborhoods where the people come out to see you. The last half of the marathon is when you really notice the crowd (or lack-thereof).

ummmm.....that's pretty much why I bagged that one although I do love the Island itself, I've been up there several times and run there so I'm familiar with parts of the course. I forgot you did that one last year.
Indy is a definite possibility, especially if there are others of us going. I wonder if Heather is running it again this year? It would be great to finally meet her since she lives near there, and I think won it last year.

Heather May did win it last year. Even if I didn't run it, I'd show up. I live less then an hour away from the site.

COOL!!! I'll see how my training goes this summer (if yesterday was an indicator then ) and maybe we'll do some recruiting and try to drum up a few more Riff Raffers!! Indy is definitely doable travel wise and it's a nice Midwestern meeting point. Maybe some of the Mafia could be convinced to make the trek from Wisconsin? And those not running Chicago the week before......maybe you guys can come too?
I'll email Heather and see if she'll be there again. I am dying to meet her after all these years....

Not this year, but that is a thought for next year...unless i'm in marathon recovery (and yes, it may take me 3-4 months to recover. )
