Posted: 10/26/04 - 14:16 Post subject: Greetings from Ireland
Hello all.
Right now I'm in the town of Bambridge which is a few miles outside of Belfas. Made the journey today after spending three days in Dublin.
Arrived in Dublin almost three hours late due to a bobm scare or 'techinal difficulties' inwhich all 13 departure gates were evacuated and I was 5 minutes from boarding.
Dublin a great city and with the exeption of the lady from immgration asking what part of Kenya I was from (the well fed part) the people have been nice. Went to the Guniess factory on Friday and had an awsome stew at their bar. The last two days have been nice after three days of cold and rain.
For the record I went out and attempted the Dublin Marathon while walking (bib 4675), still in some considable pain in my hamstrings and quards and my right foot is really sore.
Been a great trip and manage to meet several of the Ireland CR/RR and its been a blast of a trip.
Well talk again soon.

What is up with these foreigners? I told the Chicago gang the Calgary/Kenyan story while we were walking back from the race. They all thought it was a riot.
Are you going to visit Liam's mum while you're up there? Say hi for me if you do.

I'll go one better, we are going to visit tomorrow, and I'll take pictures.
I think its a Canada thing. I had on my ball cap with the maple leaf on it and people just assumed I'm from Kenya.
Despite what the Dublin marathon cover page says, the official times are posted.
I have more respect for people who walk marathons now.
Oh never attempt a walking marathon with a long walk of 6 miles done 12 weeks ago. Trust me getting out of bed was painful.
Just left a local pub watching football Millwood Vs Liverpool.

Congrats, Keith!
You did great, pain and all. You should be very proud! I hope your legs feel better soon and that you enjoy the rest of your trip.
Happy trails....Janice
