Hello!

Looks like this is a very nice and active board - just what I'm looking for! But first, a quick introduction.

I started running in the service, almost all of it in formation. It was OK and I enjoyed it somewhat. But at times it felt more like work than fun. I left the service and pretty much stopped running entirely.

Flash forward 10 years and I decided to start running again. At first I started running only two miles just a couple of times each week. I did this for about 3-4 years. In general I was just trying to stay in some kind of shape so I didn't get too serious about it. Then about a year ago I started to get bored with it and running the same times all the time. So, I start running 3 miles, 3 times a week. Then up to 4 miles, and then 5. And now I'm starting to experiment with different types of training (yasso's, intervals, etc.) Now, I'm starting to read a good bit on the subject. Eventually I'd like to start racing but for now I'm enjoying running against the clock. I've got my eye on a Polar HRM and hope that Santa will bring one this December. In a nutshell, I think I'm getting hooked on this running thing. Very Happy

And with the interest comes questions. Lots of them. So, I'll probably start posting them as they come up. I appreciate all the help!

Hey Grunt! I'd venture that's how a lot of us got interested in running...just starting out to get in shape then WHAM, you're hooked.

Ask away! There are a ton of knowledgeable people here (I'm not one) who are very generous with their advice.
