I spent the last week in Indiana, getting my house ready to sell and was pretty excited to race again in the area. I picked a race in Warwaw, IN. I drove to the race site saturday morning, looked over the race crowd... fubby and knew I'd be bringing back hardware...Got to love small town races!!!! We line up to race and I'm pretty excited to be running. It's warm...but not too hot...very humid as it had been raining all week and threatened to rain again. The gun goes off and I had the chance to know what it feels like to be the leading lady in the race for about a mile and then two high school tracksters and I were kind of grouped together for the second mile. They lost me by 2.5 mile. Sad I came in 3rd overall female and 1st in my age group with a time of
23:34. Nice to bring home hardware. My splits were

7:16
7:00
and 9:18 for the last 1.1 miles...which means I slowed down to a 8:27 pace. I'm happy with it! I'm really wanting to take my racing to a different level and we're thinking I can get this to around 23 or just over by end of Summer...but we'll see. I need to start speedwork and get my long run miles longer. It really felt good to be in the front of the pack...even if it was just for a mile or so. thumbs up fubby Dancing Banana

Being in the front is both a strange and wonderful thing to experience. (and for once, I can say been there, done that)

Congrats, Shel!! Good motivator for you to get the time down to 23!

thumbs up
