Hurricane season. Everyone flipping to the Internet every 5 minutes and talking about the storms. Don't people realize that just increases the tension level???

8 days in and we are already looking at the first storm. WHT is going on? I cannot possibly go through another year of getting hammered by these storms.
This storm is already going to make me either ride in winds gusting to 35-40 knots or stay home and ride on the trainer. Luckily I only have a 3 hour ride. I might be able to survive that on the trainer.
Totally upset,
Sheldon

I can't stand the thought of going through this again. One year was bad enough, and they didn't start last year until August!
We're already getting a ton of rain/wind here. I'm guessing it's part of Arlene, even though the Keys is not in it's direct path, and you two aren't either, correct?

It's headed for Mech though.

For the love of god...please let this all come to a halt until I've taken my two trips to FL this year! I have too much money invested in my flights!!!

OK. I don't want it happening at all! Sorry if I came across so cold with my initial response.

Has he left already? He had just sent me a message with AOL a few days ago about visiting parents and getting to mow several acres???

Meanie.
From the local TV's web site
| Quote: | Last year, the first named storm of the season was Tropical Storm Alex, which formed Aug. 1. It later became a hurricane and came within 9 miles of the Outer Banks, N.C.
Within weeks, Florida was struck by Hurricane Charley, the first of four hurricanes to hit the state last season. It was followed by hurricanes Frances, Ivan and Jeanne. The four hurricanes damaged one out of every five homes in Florida.
The storms caused about 130 deaths in the U.S. and are blamed for a total $22 billion in insured damage.
Hurricane season began June 1 and ends Nov. 30. |
Arlene's strongest winds and rain are onthe east side. Which of course effects Florida the most. I'm on the east side close to the water so the winds will whip around the state and cause havoc on our roads and beaches.
I am not looking forward to this again.
Lets just say for jokes sake I wanted a power generator to run my electricity is the power goes out. How long do you think the wait is to get one. Weeks by best estimate.

I don't know - I know he was talking about spending some considerable time out on the trail and he hasn't been around here much lately.
