My Dalmatian, Bailey started limping on Monday. She's not putting any weight on her right back leg. We went to the Vet on Tuesday morning but since we had a big storm on Monday night, they had no power. The Vet looked at her leg, gave a possible diagnosis, but can't give any definates until after the X-rays on Monday. She thinks Bailey may have Cruciate Ligament Rupture. If she does, they can do orthopedic surgery but it may not fix it and the other leg might go next. I'm hoping that it's something less dramatic, that they'll find out with the X-rays and stuff. Right now, I'm just worried for her. She is on some pretty strong pain meds at the moment (she's a little loopy). She's such a big part of our family... Just keep her in your thoughts. Thanks.

Bailey went into the Vet's on Monday for X-rays and such. She's currently pretty much walking on her hurt leg. From the x-rays, she's done this many times before (we've only had her about a year). She's probably got a partially torn Cruciate Ligament but since she has so much scar tissue around it, it'll probably stay put for awhile. She's not allowed to play ball anymore but she can still run, walk, or swim. Just no twisting, sudden stops type thing. She's going to miss playing ball though. She's on extra gluecosimin(sp?) tablet and asprin when she needs it. She's also got a bacterial ear infection so she's on meds for that. All-in-all, she's doing much better!! Thanks for everything!! Mr. Green

The Xrays should show if it's the ACL tear or not. It's expensive surgery, but dogs do recover from it. I had two dogs, in less than one year, have ACL surgery. I think t hey named a wing at my old vet's office for me.

Beautiful doggy too! Hang in there, and keep her quiet. And pet her alot.

Sorry to hear about Bailey. I know how much she means to you and hubby. Here's hoping for the best and simplest diagnosis.
