Update on p2
I got a call from our Superintendant a few minutes before I left school today. I haven't done anything wrong; the district is in bad shape financially and looking to cut where it can. 1 music teacher retired, but another is coming off of disability after 27 years to take her position within the district. I was presented with a choice: stay where I am, and the lowest music person will lose her job; move to a classroom position, knowing that someone else may lose their job. This isn't easy. I have K-8 classroom certification, I'm not sure that this is a move I want to make right now. It would definitely mean leaving the buildings I'm in.
Within 15 minutes of that bombshell, my SO calls to say he is on the way to the hospital with chest pains. he's had them since noon. He has had a history of heart problems, and there has even been a procedure to deaden certain parts of his heart because of the "overactivity". Now this is made doubly difficult because
a) he is not "out" to his parents and his mom is driving him to the hospital
b) I can't be with him because I'm not "family"
c) I have my youngest with me who has been missing me since I was away for the weekend; I can't just blow him off. So right now, I'm pretending that everything is fine.......
When I really feel like puking because I've just gotten 2 suckerpunches to the gut

That is rough. I'll set up the Vibotron 5000 to send over max positivity.

The job thing sucks, but major thoughts out to the SO. I hope everything turns out okay.

Oh baby. I'm sorry.
Control what you can control right this minute. The rest will happen when it's time.

Am I reading correctly? She was on disability for 27 years and coming back-----or she's got 27 years of seniority and coming back???

yeah, 27 years of disability and she wants to come back. my guess is she won't last one year. it's a totally different ball game now.
As far as Scott (my SO) I know nothing

I'm so sorry, K. Lots of tough things for you this year.
And I know since you have such a good heart, a lot of what's eating you is your desire not to cause others any hurt.
