I enjoyed swimming freestyle. It was, and still it by far the best stroke for me. No matter what other people say this is the most elegant, efficient and natural stroke in swimming. However I entered the big competition league and want to compete in backstroke so I have to give up my freestyle strokes. It is not easy for me since I like it so much. What do you think?

Well, swimming backstroke is one thing, while freestyle/front crawl is something else. You have to master backstroke in order to compete successfully. However I see no reason why you should abandon your freestyle. You can’t swim that stroke during the actual race, but you can still enjoy its beauty and benefits in between or off the season. Keep up the freestyle. Maybe one day you will be competing freestyle in a big league.
