As I exited the local grocery I saw a familiar sight: Girl Scouts selling stuff. However, this was not your typical GS cookie sale. No, folks, they were selling peanuts, chocolate-covered peanuts, and candies. What's next? Chocolates? Pound cakes? Heroine?
Just wasting some time until 9 o'clock when SOpranos starts....

As an authority on the subject of crass and over-the-top fundraisers, I can tell you the troop in question was no doubt embarking on a rogue mission.
Shameful. The Salvation Army bell ringer season is nothing less than the Ramadan of fund raising.

I was never a Girl Scout, so I know very little of the activities of those girls and what the organization has to offer them. I am curious to know if they girls are taken to regular volunteering activities. Then maybe I could excuse the constant harrass...err...fundraising.

I took the cub scouts to a nursing home to decorate their Christmas tree with ornaments they made and sang carols.

My son's Boy Scout troop did a good deal of volunteering back when he was still in it and they only did one fundraiser a year, selling popcorn.
