Very bad race for me. I cannot say how upset I am with the results and overall performance. Nothing went right, nothing.

http://www.set-upinc.com/rp5/rockroll/rrmmaage05.htm

The swim started with me getting caught behind a bunch of really slow swimmers. I could not get around them and fought for a while before getting some clean water.

I decided 56 miles wasn't enough, so I went off course on the bike for about 2 miles before getting turned around.

Then at mile 11 on the run, I got passed by a guy who wanted the podium more than I did. So, he got it. He finished third. As it turns out, I had a penalty, so I would have been off the podium anyway. My penalty was for crossing the center line on the run.

I also slipped a gear climbing a hill and slammed my knee into the handlebars (I have a nice large black and blue bruised knee), got bit by a bug on my forehead, somehow I twisted my hip, and got a blister on the outside of my pinky toe that looks like a third degree burn.

In t1, I could not get my helmet on and finally decided that I would fuss with it out on the road and just put it on all crooked. (I thought I was doing my PH impression and took the helmet off before I left transition, but it was on right.) Somehow the strap got pushed in while the helmet was in my transition bag. More time lost there.

I also got gut shut down for about 20 minutes on the bike. For a while I was stuck not drinking or eating while the food I had in my stomach went down. It finally did and I was able to regain my hydration status.

Lets see, what else went wrong out there. Not much went right.

Ok, so thats it. This was a really bad race for me. I never felt comfortable and just plodded along on the run. BLAH!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry you had a bad race Sheldon. You'll do better next time. I admire you folks for even attempting half IM or IM period.

4th place on what you consider a total crap race is still pretty impressive.
