Heard about it on the news. Seems to happen every year in MadTown. this was the first time the po po had to break out the heavy gear, though.

those are never easy because stupid things just snowball
like trying to arrest one obnoxious dude and all of his other dudes come to his "defense" it is almost better to let a lot of stuff go and just get the crowd broken up

I think live ammo would have dispelled the rowdy crowds pretty quickly.

or gotten the po po more anxious because one shot would've really gotten the po po on edge...
better with mace/pepper spray and a big stick (not hitting of course just the presence)

I knew more people from UW-Eau Claire and U of Minn who used to go down than people actually from Madison!

anybody else read the parts about:
"turned violent early" (as compared to later?)
"danced in streets with mannequins"
"stole booze and threw it at the police" (what a waste)
"a prankster stole the keys to an ambulance after a prankster fell off a roof"
"an 18 year old man was found unconscious in a small garbage chute"
and of course
"women in the 2nd floor balaconies exposed their breasts after being egged on by the crowd"
it's amazing what large masses of people yelling "show us your boobs" can do... go team go.

That's sad. I don't remember it ever getting that violent. There is no need to vandalize other people's property.
I think the cops here use knee-knocker bullets when the OSU crowds riot...
