I have a problem. Since I’ve been spending almost all my time in front of my PC I’m having certain problems with my back so I had to start swimming. My physical therapist thinks that will help me, but I don’t feel comfortable in the pool. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m too geeky and I don’t know how to swim properly. Do you have any suggestions for a geek who wants to be an athlete?

Welcome aboard! You know that the most important thing is motivation and if you have enough of that, you’re going to make it, no matter how geeky you are. You need some time to relax since you didn’t have the practice up to recently. It’s hard when you have to change your lifestyle and instead of sedentary you have to be more active. But when your body gets used to it, you’ll feel great and won’t be able to return to previous lifestyle. Just don’t try to achieve excellent mileage and speed already. I suppose that you have a swimming instructor there and that you can consult him about everything that you’d like to know. Maybe he can help you overcome that unpleasant feeling.
