you sure did kick some @$$! Good job!

I was there too, about 2 minutes behind you. One of these days we might actually meet Smile

The results are up, by the way, though the server keeps falling over.

If I had known you were going to be there we could have made plans to meet up!!! Oh well. maybe next time. I was able to pull my times and place etc but now I need to enter that special place where I can write a good race report.

Not as good as my story about the Winter Beaches but I have been so busy I felt like I needed to get something down before I forgot it all.

Overall I felt good for the whole race. Boy was it nice starting in the seeded section. If you can ever get the qualifying time necessary I strongly recommend it. The first 5K I was cruising along at sub 7 pace and I was feeling pretty good. Somewhere between mile 1 and 2 I had lost Jason (a guy that I was using to pace me to a 65) and thought he had gotten in front of me so I was trying to maintain my pace to see if I could find him again.

After getting out of the San Marco area, I gave up on finding Jason so I just tried to maintain what I thought was a solid pace. As I passed each mile marker and I saw my splits, I was still feeling good. I knew I was kind of bouncing around but I figured if I was within 5 seconds on either side of 7, I would be okay. I still haven't figured out what happened on mile 7. I guess I just had a slow down. I hit the bridge and I made it without walking which is always a plus. I just tried to keep my pace even and my feet moving forward. I didn't even look at my watch for that split since I knew I would make up most of it on the downhill. I then cruised down into the finish. I got passed by a Clydesdale at the end since I didn't hear him coming up on me.

My time of 1:05:12 is a PR by 3 minutes over last year. My 10K split was also a PR by almost 3 minutes. My main goal was to run a solid smart race and not get hurt for my 50K in 2 weeks and I feel like I accomplished that. I missed my goal of breaking 65 but I did get very close this year. With any luck maybe I can get down near 63 next March.
