What can you tell me about Garmin Edge 705? A fellow cyclist suggested me to buy it. He says it’s a pretty useful device but I don’t exactly know how and why it’s used. Is it for pro cyclists? I’m cycling for a hobby and I don’t know whether I actually need this kind of a device or it’s just one of those gadgets for geeks.

It’s not a geek gadget. It’s a multipurpose device which serves both as a navigator and heart rate and other performance and body functions monitor. I think it’s great because you can see where you are, because by means of this device you get maps via satellite and it’s impossible to go astray. It’s especially useful for trail cyclist who usually train somewhere off the beaten track which can sometimes lead them astray without the slightest clue where they are. There is an extra memory micro SD slot and you can add more maps. It also has the altimeter and you can see how steep the road is. It can calculate speed, distance, how many calories you burn, cadence, heart rate and numerous other functions. It can also connect to a nearby device within three meters distance.
