I filled out a loan application last week and put it in the mail on wednesday. It is for my Credit Union. I called a few minutes ago to find out what's taking so long....they never got the application! grrrr thank you USPS  
they found it on Monday when I went to their office to pick up a new application. however, they weren't quite ready to give me the money tuesday because of the financial problems the stbx and I were having (read: she spent faster than I could earn it.) So today, i fully expected to be turned down. I made the call and found out that they were willing to make the loan! yippee! this means I can get on with my life.

When we send an application out for Social Security benefits, the cover letter says to get the app and any documents we need back to us within ten days of the date at the beginning of said letter (the date we interviewed the applicant).
We always get hysterical calls - "I got this letter dated (say) March 25, saying to get everything back in ten days, AND I JUST GOT IT TODAY! How am I going to get it back in two days!?"
Stupid boilerplate language/governemnt speak. And in the end,  to your USPS comments, keltic. Service seems to go down as the prices go up - what a concept!
