An old friend of mine moved across state 7 years ago. We were really good friends while she lived nearby for quite a few years. Since she's moved I've been down to see her several times, and used to call and e-mail. The last few years we have not had any contact. I got kinda put off by the fact that I seemed to be the only one trying to maintain the friendship. I'd invite her to stay with me for a weekend, she'd never come. She's got family in this area yet she never stops by when she's in town. Confused

So my question is this: Her b-day is next week and I was thinking about sending her a card. Should I, or should I just forget I ever knew her?

It would take what...5 minutes to get the card ready and mail it?

Send it, achey. Just cuz she's failing in the friendship department, it doesn't mean you have to.

My "friend advice" is: Don't watch Friends. It's not funny anymore. Wink

Send the card, you'll feel better.

I agree with joel. Send the card. Maybe write "would love to hear from you" or "bring me up to date with what's going on for you"... something like that.

She probably will love hearing from you and she may even have a decent reason for letting communications lag.

OH JUST GREAT! Thanks to all of you for guilting me into replying to an e-mail that I got back in MAY from a long-lost friend that I haven't replied to except for 'My life is really hectic right now, I'll write back later."

I guess I could take 10 minutes away from the forums and write a decent reply. Embarassed

Maybe we should ALL email a friend today that we've lost touch with, yes?

(and on a side note, does anyone have Mr. T's email address?)

Achey, how about writing.

"THANKS, fer nuttin!" in the card?

I'd send the card but if I didn't hear anything after, I wouldn't make further effort until she did.

I say stick that. No card, no call, no regrets. I definitely say forget her. But maybe that's just because I'm bitter.
