Sand & Stone
A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was
hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE." They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE." The friend who had slapped and saved his bes! ! t friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?" The other friend replied: "When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it." LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Send this phrase to the people you'll never forget and remember to send it also to the person who sent it to you. It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them. If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're in a hurry and that you've forgotten your friends. Take the time to live!!!

I have seen repeatedly the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way. It's nice, really nice!!

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle income family. Talk about sticker shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition. But 160,140 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into $8,896.66 a year, $741.38 a month, or $171.08 a week. That's a mere $24.24 a day! Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice is don't have children if you want to be "rich." Actually, it is just the opposite.

What do you get for your $160,140?

§ Naming rights. First, middle, and last!

§ Glimpses of God every day.

§ Giggles under the covers every night.

§ More love than your heart can hold.

§ Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.

§ Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.

§ A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate.

§ A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites, building sandcastles, and skipping down the sidewalk in the pouring rain.

§ Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.

§ For $160,140, you never have to grow up.

§ You get to finger-paint, carve pumpkins, play hide-and-seek, catch lightning bugs, and never stop believing in Santa Claus.

§ You have an excuse to keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh, watching Saturday morning cartoons, going to Disney movies, and wishing on stars.

§ You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.

§ For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof, taking the training wheels off a bike, removing a splinter, filling a wading pool, coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.

§ You get a front row seat to history to witness the first step, first word, first bra, first date, and first time behind the wheel.

§ You get to be immortal.

§ You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren and great grandchildren.

§ You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human sexuality that no college can match.

§ In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there with God. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, so . . . one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost.

ENJOY YOUR KIDS AND GRANDKIDS!

TATER PEOPLE

Some people never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work.

They are called "Speck Taters".

Some people never do anything to help, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work.

They are called "Comment Taters".

Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, but don't want to soil their own hands.

They are called "Dick Taters".

Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, too sour or too sweet.

They are called "Agie Taters".

There are those who say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help.

They are called "Hezzie Taters".

Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not.

They are called "Emma Taters".

Then there are those who love others and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a

helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others.

They are called "Sweet Taters".

If you know any "Sweet Taters", send them this!

******

Today in church our pastor asked for everyone to stand and pray that the

'sniper' would be discovered and it gave me an idea. I think that if

everyone who gets this would email it to everyone in their address book,

and everyone prayed, that is a whole lot of prayers. If you choose not to

send this on, nothing will happen. There is no secret pop-up, no 'good'

luck if you send it on, and no 'bad' luck if you don't. But I know that my

God can do miracles, if we ask Him. So I am asking Him.

Lord, Please let the sniper who is killing all these innocent people be

discovered soon. We are asking for his identity to be revealed to the

proper authorities. We ask for your hedge of protection to be around all

of our families and loved ones and the folks who we do not know. We thank

you for this, and praise your name. Also protect the children especially,

per the snipers last message, no child's safe. It is very scary to know

someone is stalking us, but even worse to be threatening our children.

Heavenly Father we give this to You, and May your will be to protect us

all. Amen!

Just say this prayer and then forward it to everyone in your address book.

This is a GREAT way to get an almost constant prayer for his/her/their

discovery.

May God bless you today and everyday.
