Now, this is just freakin' scary.
Not that Charley and Frances were not, but people in Florida have had little time to recooperate, recover and resupply themselves with things. I know how hard it is with just 1 hurricane to get ready. NOW A THIRD!!!

I'm going to call my parents in a few. I hope that they will consider leaving the state this time. They're too close to the water and should get out. Even going back to Orlando is not safe.
It's all very surreal to me at times living so far away with no weather of the sort. I have to really think back to what it was like to go through it to know what it's like.
I've just been very busy with things in my life to really know that this is serious stuff. Not to mention...they've been hammered.

They're saying this is the first time in 40 years that Florida has gotten 3 hurricanes in a season.
Incredble.

Stop it....just stop talking about it already. My stressometer is about to blow the top.
Tmpers here are so high. First it was, OMG, here comes a hurricane. The it came and went. We restocked and went on. The the next hurricane. We played nice with the neighbors and everybody coped. Now try and get a drop of gas, or a loaf of bread. What you want an egg. ya right dream on. Milk doesn't make it south of Orlando.
People are weeks with electricity and the phones (Cell Phoness included) work about half the time. Most of the cable TV is still out and the debri is everywhere.

I heard from Kristin this morning and they are seriously considering leaving too and going up to Charleston to stay with Larry's mom.

We still don't know. If we leave (see current hurricane paths to understand why our plans have changed) it will likely be tomorrow morning. If all that we get is wind and rain, we are boarded up, stocked up and fed up of being stressed out.
We have friends with a virtually hurricane proof home and a shelter to stay in as well (it's private, so we can take Sierra).
I'm with Sheldon on the stress factor issue. But, glad to hear you're doing alright. Be safe. Same to Eric.
I hope it keeps going west and avoids us, but I feel terrible for all the places already hit so hard. And it's looking like it might hit Punta Gorda again.

I know the stress factor is huge for you. One hurricane puts you there.
I have yet to call my parents. I will do so in the next hour. I bet they are going to stay in their house. They had their glass strengthened just for hurricanes, but Charley bothered them. It bothered them so much that they want to move. They still want to be in the same area where they are now and I cannot understand why they don't move inland.
Good luck.
Please be safe all you Florida friends.
Kristin...I hope you are safe. You either get out now or wait the storm out.

Anyone from the Keys to Tallahassee should be leaving (or thinking about leaving). 3 days from now (after it passes through Cuba) it will still be a Cat4 storm. That means winds of 130mph or greater. And it will be in the GoM. Nothin like a Cat4 storm to be out sitting in a big body of warm water. It will probably strengthen a little bit sitting out in the GoM, and make landfall with winds of minimum 135. This is a dangerous storm, so take care of all preparations today and get ready to leave.

My parents are going to leave and spend time at a shelter close to where they live if it looks like Ivan is going to hit anywhere close to them.
Right now, it's predicted to hit a little further north than where they live. So, they have a good plan going as of now. Better than staying in their home with all the glass windows that they have. They have a ton of it too.
