I just finished fixing the shingles on roof. I won't make a decision on bugging out until later in the week. Mrs Boiler is remaining calm so far. I have to make a decision on buying plywood to board up the windows or not.

Is it on track for the Jax area?

Get the plywood and have it on hand. You never know. This in now a Category 5 hurricane and the winds will still be strong, even in Jax. Be safe FB!
Take things of importance and move to the center of your house as well, away from windows. My parents are doing so before the leave for the shelter. They are bagging up their pictures and belongings that they don't want distroyed or wet. They have taken a picture inventory of everything so they have proof of it all with them. It's nice to have digital cameras.

Currently Ivan is a Cat5...165 mile per hour winds...after it passes through Cuba it will weaken slightly...but as it sits off the coast of florida, it will still be Cat4 with 135-140 mile per hour winds...

The Keys are out of the cone, but we'll still get wind/rain. Hopefully it will not move east again. It looks as though it will hit the midwestern coast/panhandle the hardest. Those people have had enough already!
There is an evacuation mandatory for tourists/non-residents in the Keys. There was one for residents also on Friday, but it's not being enforced and will likely be lifted today.
We're still looking at leaving if it shifts. If we stay out of the cone, we're riding it out.

My mom just called. She says they are probably going to get lucky and it's going to hit further north from them. A relief for them, but not for others.

Florida, I'd say you're pretty much out of the woods for this one.
I think that NoLa you need to be leaving. If you get hit with a Cat4...you won't be living there for a few months.

We got nothing. A little tiny bit of wind, a sprinkle, but the effects of this one were nothing compared to the wind and rain we got (as residual, from the feeder bands) of Charley and Frances.
The county really scared people with the evacuation Friday. This is a really bad season for a lot of businesses. Many of the employees down here live off tips (with the economy being restaurant/resort-based) and the two weekends off has been very hard on them.
